Safeguarding
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children is our highest priority at Chapel Street Community Primary School – we work together to move beyond compliance to a culture of excellence in relation to safeguarding and this includes implementing robust Safer Recruitment practices, without exception.
Prior to appointment, all relevant and necessary safeguarding checks (including online checks of publicly available information for shortlisted candidates) will be undertaken. The job description and person specification for this post make clear the safeguarding requirements and responsibilities of the post.
As this post involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children, it is exempt from the Rehabilitation of the Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020 and will require an Enhanced DBS Check prior to employment. If the role is exempt, certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed, and if they are disclosed, we cannot take them into account. Following the promotion of our current Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion to a Deputy Headteacher in Specialist Provision, we are delighted to offer a vacancy to join our Senior Leadership Team from January 2026, or sooner if possible, as our Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion.

You will be passionate about making a difference and share our belief in the importance of relationships and our core values of: respect, inclusion and growth.
You will want to work in a large, diverse, urban primary school and understand the wonderful and unique opportunities and challenges this can bring.
Applications are invited from experienced teachers who are successful leaders (at either a senior or middle leadership level) for this exciting role in our school. You must have a proven and demonstrable track record of raising pupil achievement and previous experience at a senior leadership level or substantial experience at a middle leadership level. You might be an experienced Assistant Headteacher and / or SENCO within a smaller primary school or an experienced phase lead / SENCO within a large primary school – either way, you are looking for the next step in your career, a new challenge and opportunity to widen the positive impact you have through excellent leadership and managemenT.
